What is real? What do we feel is real? What is the general consensus of what is real? Is the general consensus of what is real correct? What does science claim to be real? What do mystics say is real? Does anyone really know what is real? Is there an answer to this seemingly rather simple question?
Well, like the many things that will always remain a mystery, reality and/or our conscious view of what we feel or ‘believe’ to be real is one of those mysteries. The concept of “reality” remains only as a speculative theory or hypothesis and nothing more.
Through the scientific method we may conclude certain specific particularities on the functions of the brain and its bio-chemical pathways. Science has further yet expounded on consciousness theories in the philosophical hypothesis of Quantum physics. Through the meta-physical and mystical methods we have ‘mapped out’ areas of the mind that are vague, abstract, alien and paranormal and less frequently ‘visited’ territories of our consciousness.
Through all of this, are there any real conclusions as to what reality and consciousness are? No!! Science likes to base its conclusions off of long term consistencies in result. Through the centuries, the results are always changing. Although mind altering techniques seem to have less validity, even if based off of long term consistencies, we still cannot conclude or draw any conviction to the idea or concepts of the other realms of consciousness they exemplify.
So, we are still nowhere with this. Basically, still at square number one! All conceptions of reality are inconclusive. Many are in-congruent, but some are in complete agreement, even though they stem from completely different schools of thought. Whether in agreement or not, it still does not prove anything. What’s more important though and relevant to our perception of reality is that the concept becomes, or is, more inconclusive in result and conviction due to each individual’s subjective view, based on their individual perspective, at any given moment in their wakeful existence. The individual’s “view” is also subjected to the bio-chemical influences at any given moment of its function.
For the picture is taken only by the photographer. We are each photographers taking pictures of each moment in our existence. We can only share those photos, we cannot share the view. That is of course unless the other subjects have also been to the same vista points, in which case we could relate much more to their reality, because we have ‘shared’ in their same view, but still yet, from a slightly different angle, thus creating a very unique perspective of any individual’s, indefinable, unexplained conception of REALITY!!
